Hospice is a program of end-of-life pain management and comfort care for those with a terminal illness. Hospice care offers end-of-life palliative treatment, including support for the physical, emotional, and needs of your family. It is important to remember that the goal of hospice is to help you live a life with comfort, dignity, and respect.

WHO PAYS?

Once you choose hospice care, all of your hospice-related services are covered under traditional Medicare, even if you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan. Hospice also covers any prescription drugs you need for pain and symptom management and medical equipment related to your terminal condition.

HOW DO I QUALIFY

Your primary care physician and a hospice physician certify that you have a terminal illness with a limiting life expectancy. For the purposes of qualifying criteria, a life expectance of 6 months or less is used. After electing to accept hospice care, rather than curative care, hospice services begin.

WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED IN MY CARE?

Depending on your terminal illness and related conditions, hospice care most often provides care and services that would include Physician Services, Skilled Nursing, medical equipment and supplies, prescription drugs for symptom control or pain relief, Certified Nursing Aides, therapy services, social work services, grief and loss counselling for you and your family and respite care.

WHY HOSPICE CARE?

When you choose hospice care in Plano Texas, you decide that quality of life is what’s most important to you and your family. This choice is often made when you no longer want care to cure your terminal illness and/or your doctor determines that all efforts to cure your illness aren’t working.
